Crochet Basics: Stitch Definitions

ch = chain stitch
yarn over, pull through loop on hook

dc = double crochet
yarn over, insert hook into chain loop, yarn over, pull back through loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through last 2 loops on hook.

dtr = double treble crochet
yarn over 3 times, insert hook into chain loop, yarn over, pull back through loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) 4 times.

hdc = half double crochet
yarn over, insert hook into chain loop, yarn over, pull back through loop, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

sc = single crochet
insert hook into chain loop, yarn over, pull back through chain loop, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.

sl st = slip stitch
insert hook into chain loop, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.

tr = treble crochet
Yarn over twice, insert hook into chain loop, yarn over, pull back through loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) 3 times.
