Heart Themed Book Pages
I created these "Heart" themed pages for a swap at eve mail art calls. The swap should be completed and returns sent out in February.
To create my pages I began by trimming some dark red card stock down to 4" x 4" size. I used a bleach spatter to create the background effect on the pages.
I drew a heart to use as a pattern and cut hearts out of black cardstock. I then cut all of the hearts in half. Using an awl, I punched an even row of holes in the heart pieces and stitched the hearts back together using gold metallic embroidery floss in a crossed pattern.
I glued the hearts in place on the pages and using my awl, I punched holes evenly spaced around the hearts. I stitched them to the page with black thread creating a cool pattern on the reverse side as I worked.
I stamped "Time Heals All Wounds" using the "Jazz It Up" alphabet pixie stamps. I highlighted the letting with gold gel pens. I added a hand drawn border of vines and the same phrase around each edge of the page with gold gel pens.
I used tan colored cardstock trimmed down for the reverse sides. I glued the cardstock to the back of the pages, and wrote in my contact info with black ink. I then made a small stitch with dark red embroidery thread to add a final touch.
For a finishing touch, I edged the pages with gold ink using a stamp pad.
Update: Book Completed
I received my completed book and am quite happy with it. Here are a few photos to give you an idea of the beautiful artwork it features:
