Casting On: Left handed version

(holding hook in your left hand)

Casting on is a simple step, and the first thing that you need to know.
I took great care to try to explain in detail, as this is a page for beginners.

Hold the loose end of the thread against your first two fingers, using your thumb.
Wrap the thread up and over your fingers, making an "X", as shown here.
Place your thumb on the "X", to hold in place.
Rotate your hand towards you, to see the tops of your fingers.
Insert the hook under both threads, and hook the second thread.
Pull the second thread under the first one.
Slide the threads off your fingers, as you pull the hook through.
Pull snugly.
You have finished "casting on"!
